The Pet Connection
Volunteering is good for the Soul. I have the natural tendencies to help others. I have found that people I “think” needs help, wants it. But, I painfully find out they do not want it. Rather like the boy scout who thinks that little old lady needs help crossing the road and she hits him over the head to leave her alone. Then there are people who want help constantly, you give it to them, and the “wants” becomes never ending. I will not give up on helping others. I am learning to redirect my energy and give help to where my passion is. I found a place where I can give help, a place that is not number 1 on most people’s list of help. Ever since I helped rescue some kittens from an alley a year or so ago, I knew what I could do to help society. I finally found the right fit for me, The Pet Connection in
The most important thing we can give is giving of ourselves to help others. There is so much need out there, that we surely will not be bumping into each other in giving support. It can be just a can of food, donating money, donating our time. There is a place and cause for each and every one of us to help.
Somethings I have Found out..... The difference between (canned) Crushed Tomatoes, Diced Tomatoes and Stewed Tomatoes: (All can be put in stews, soups, sauces.) If you have an “oops”, turn it into a “creation”. Don’t throw it out..
People do read my newsletters!!! Just contact me to see what you are missing!
Diced Tomatoes - diced from a whole tomato
Crushed Tomatoes - texture is between tomato sauce and diced tomatoes
Stewed Tomatoes - sliced and seasoned with celery, onions and bell peppers
I had decided to make a meal consisting of small meatballs, served in gravy over noodles. Simple enough, but it was not going to happen as I planned. So, I turned this “mess” into a casserole. It all began with making the meatballs and not making them correctly. They were way too moist and would not retain their shape. I then went right to plan B. I finished cooking the “mixture” in the skillet; cooked the noodles; mixed together the cans of golden mushroom soup and beefy mushroom soup with some water, added half a package of shredded Colby/jack cheese; mixed the meat into the soup, and added the cook noodles. I put all of this in a large casserole dish, sprinkled the top with the other half of the cheese and baked in the oven for about 30 minutes. It actually turned out and tasted better than I had envisioned!
